Roger and I cannot believe that half a year has already passed with our little princess. Avery continues to amaze us each and every day, and she is growing so fast. Words alone cannot describe the love we have for this baby girl! Stats: 18 pounds, 1 ounce (80%) and 28 inches (95%)
Updates this month:
Avery has her first tooth!! It is on the bottom left side. Nanny Nancy first discovered the little bud about 2 weeks ago. Since then it has completely broken through. Avery now LOVES to stick out her tongue and run it over her little tooth.
Avery can sit up for a little while, but she still needs assistance to maintain the sit after a minute or so. Part of the problem is that she is just too busy to sit still. Avery rolls ALL over the place. She isn’t ready to crawl yet, but that doesn’t slow her down. She uses rolling as a mode of transportation, and she is really quick about it!
She loves looking in the mirror at herself. She must know that she is pretty cute!
As you might recall, Avery absolutely hated tummy time. The irony? She now prefers to sleep on her tummy. Despite our best efforts to enforce “back is best,” this little one instantly rolls over to sleep on her tummy.
Avery has the sweetest little personality, and she is the happiest baby – always smiling! She giggles and laughs, and she just loves it when her brother-cat Colby passes by. She will reach out to grab him, but we make sure to prevent that.
We are in the final transition stages from breastmilk to formula, and Avery still eats every three hours - usually 5 ounces at a time. Avery loves “people” food! She has now tried rice cereal, sweet potato, apples, bananas, green beans, avocados, and pears. Avery loves the fruit and sweet potato! The big surprise? She prefers green beans over avocado. We only gave her the avocado once, and she did not like it. Maybe we will try again in a few weeks. Surely with Texas roots she should love baby guacamole!
After getting over her first ear infection and cold, Avery sleeps from 8:30ish until 6:00am. I feed her when she wakes up, and then she goes back to sleep until 8:30 am or so. I usually get up once a night (usually between 3:00 and 4:00 to replace her binky when she stirs).
Life with Nanny Nancy couldn’t be better! It is so nice for Avery to be able to sleep in and lounge in her PJ’s. Nancy takes such great care of Avery, and it is so obvious that she cares greatly about our baby girl.
Avery loves being outside. She and Nancy take lots of walks around the neighborhood, and she really enjoys it when Roger takes her outside in the evenings to check on the growing grass and flowers.
We can't wait to see what changes the next six months bring!
