Five Months Old!

Without a doctor's checkup this month, we put Avery on the "o-so-accurate" bathroom scale, where we determined that she is weighing in at a whopping 16.8 pounds (with clothes)! I was hoping to keep her in her bucket car seat through the summer, but with a 20-pound weight limit, it looks like that won't be likely.

We have a closet full of spring outfits, and we just need the weather to cooperate with us! While Avery still fits in 3 to 6 month sized clothes in terms of weight, she has outgrown many things in this size due to her height.

Avery eats 5 ounces of milk every three hours. We also started the rice cereal this month, and Avery is doing such a great job learning to eat. She usually eats 1.5 tablespoons of cereal mixed with an ounce of mommy milk. While the doctor told us that we could also start veggies and fruits, we have decided to wait until she is six months before start these. I have read that this further reduces the chance of developing food allergies. In the meantime, I am getting supplies ready to start making food for her. It will be interesting to see how that goes...

Avery now rolls over at will (both ways)! When Avery is on her back, she has gotten good at using her feet/back to scoot around. She does a decent job of sitting up with support, but she can only maintain it for a few seconds unsupported. When held, Avery has learned to hold onto your shoulder. It is really cute!

Avery sleeps from 8:30 pm to 5:30 am pretty consistently, and she is all smiles when she wakes up in the morning. Honestly, unless she is tired or hungry, Avery is constantly smiling! She has a few tickle spots (behind her ear, ribs, thighs, and bottom of her feet). The jumparoo is a big hit! Avery will happily play in either the jumparoo or exersaucer while I do a few household chores. While we still don’t see evidence of any impending teeth, Avery still drools/blows bubbles all day long!
